A fome de poder de Paulo Roberto e os riscos à governabilidade em Vitória de Santo Antão

A crescente ambição do prefeito de Vitória de Santo Antão, Paulo Roberto (MDB), tem provocado turbulências dentro e fora de sua base aliada. Seu comportamento cada vez mais centralizador e a clara intenção de construir uma dinastia familiar no poder vêm minando apoios e acirrando disputas que podem comprometer a estabilidade política não só no município, mas também no tabuleiro estadual.

Desde que alavancou a eleição da filha, Iza Arruda, à Câmara Federal, Paulo Roberto passou a enxergar seu grupo como protagonista estadual. Sua disposição em se lançar como nome para uma chapa majoritária — seja ao Senado, seja como vice-governador — surpreendeu até membros do MDB, partido pelo qual já travou embates internos, especialmente com o ex-deputado Raul Henry. A tentativa de hegemonia no partido e na política local revela um projeto de poder que não aceita contrapontos.

A mais nova cartada dessa estratégia é a pré-candidatura do filho caçula, Túlio Arruda, a deputado estadual. Atual secretário da Prefeitura do Recife, Túlio mira justamente a cidade de Vitória como reduto eleitoral. O movimento, no entanto, não caiu bem entre aliados históricos, como o deputado estadual Joaquim Lira, que se viu ameaçado em sua própria base. Em resposta, articula o retorno do pai, Elias Lira — figura tradicional da política local — como candidato a deputado federal. A ação é clara: dividir votos e testar forças.

Essa escalada de tensionamentos expõe uma gestão que prioriza interesses familiares em detrimento da coesão política. O custo pode ser alto: desgaste com antigos aliados, fragmentação de votos e enfraquecimento das candidaturas do próprio grupo. A imagem de Paulo Roberto, antes vista como a de um gestor habilidoso, começa a ser associada à de um político obcecado por controle e expansão de influência.

Em política, o excesso de apetite costuma gerar indigestão. Se Paulo Roberto seguir ignorando os sinais de alerta e insistir em atropelar acordos e aliados, pode ver seu projeto ruir antes mesmo de sair de Vitória. Afinal, quem tenta abarcar tudo sem medir consequências, corre o risco de perder até o que já conquistou.

Camaragibe – Na noite desta segunda-feira (14), o prefeito de Camaragibe, Diego Cabral, assinou novas ordens de serviço para pavimentação das ruas Augusto dos Anjos, Samuel Macdowell e Londrina, no bairro Jardim Primavera, dentro do programa “Segundou com Trabalho”. Com investimento superior a R$ 1,5 milhão, as vias receberão piso intertravado de concreto, drenagem, passeio com acessibilidade e sinalização vertical. As obras, que começam nesta terça (15), têm previsão de quatro meses para conclusão e fazem parte do pacote de ações que já soma quase R$ 14 milhões em investimentos em infraestrutura desde janeiro deste ano.

Lançamento – A prefeita de Carpina, Eduarda Gouveia (Podemos), realiza, na próxima quinta-feira (17), a partir das 19h, na Praça Otávio Guerra, o lançamento oficial da programação do São João 2025 da cidade, com shows de Juarez Jr, Paulinho do Acordeon, grupo Bacamarteiros e a participação especial da Quadrilha Junina Rosa Linda; além de divulgar, com mais de dois meses de antecedência, as atrações que prometem fazer do município um dos principais polos juninos de Pernambuco, a festa reforça o compromisso com a valorização da cultura local e o fortalecimento da economia através do turismo.

Encontro – O deputado federal Augusto Coutinho (Republicanos) publicou, nesta segunda-feira (14), o registro de uma visita ao ex-prefeito de Olinda, Professor Lupércio (PSD); na postagem, o parlamentar descreveu o encontro como uma oportunidade para “atualizar as conversas”, sem revelar detalhes sobre os assuntos discutidos na reunião.

    In addition to their role in labs, axolotls have become popular in the exotic pet trade (though they are illegal to own in California, Maine, New Jersey and Washington, DC). However, the axolotls you might find at a pet shop are different from their wild relatives in Lake Xochimilco. Most wild axolotls are a dark grayish brown. The famous pink axolotls, as well as other color variants such as white, blue, yellow and black, are genetic anomalies that are rare in the wild but selectively bred for in the pet trade.

    What’s more, “most of the animals in the pet trade have a very small genetic variance,” Zambrano said. Pet axolotls tend to be inbred and lack the wide flow of different genes that makes up a healthy population in the wild. That means that the axolotl extinction crisis can’t simply be solved by dumping pet axolotls into Lake Xochimilco. (Plus, the pet axolotls likely wouldn’t fare well with the poor habitat conditions in the lake.)

    Fame and misfortune
    The difficulties that axolotls face in the wild are almost diametrically opposed to the fame they’ve found in recent years. Axolotls have captured the human imagination for centuries, as evidenced by their roles in Aztec religion and stories, but the early 21st century seems to be a high point for them. An axolotl graces the 50 peso bill. There are axolotl-inspired Pokemon, and Reddit commenters have noted that the character Toothless from the “How to Train Your Dragon” movie series is distinctly axolotl-like.

    The introduction of axolotls to Minecraft in 2021 neatly mapped onto an uptick in Google searches for the animals, and social media makes it easy for people to gain access to photos and videos of the salamanders, particularly the photogenic pink ones often kept as pets.

    The axolotl pet trade probably doesn’t directly harm the wild populations since wild salamanders aren’t being poached or taken from Lake Xochimilco. However, Zambrano said, axolotls’ ubiquity in pop culture and pet stores might make people assume that because axolotls “live in all the tanks around the world, they are not in danger.”
