A Comissão de Constituição e Justiça (CCJ) do Senado adiou, hoje, o começo da análise do projeto para extinguir a possibilidade de um segundo mandato para presidente, governadores e prefeitos. O texto também limita o único mandato do Executivo a 5 anos. O adiamento foi feito a pedido do relator, Marcelo Castro (MDB-PI), que quer mais tempo para ajustar o conteúdo. Não foi dada previsão de quando poderá ser pautado.
O texto é de autoria do senador Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO). Durante sessão de hoje, Kajuru afirmou que tratou sobre o tema com o presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). Segundo o senador, o presidente teria declarado apoio à proposta. Caso aprovado pelo Congresso, o projeto não afetará uma eventual tentativa de reeleição de Lula, porque não afetariam as eleições de 2026.
