Em Caruaru, Rodrigo Pinheiro inaugura o maior complexo olímpico de escola municipal do Norte/Nordeste

Em 2016, o terreno seria vendido para a iniciativa privada, pela gestão à época, e agora foi entregue para a população como um grande complexo esportivo

Caruaru agora tem um complexo olímpico para chamar de seu. A cidade passa a contar com o maior equipamento esportivo, no âmbito de escolas municipais, do Norte/Nordeste, o Complexo Olímpico Rei Pelé. A inauguração foi comandada, na tarde desta quinta-feira (25), pelo prefeito Rodrigo Pinheiro, que esteve ao lado de secretários, vereadores e autoridades.

“Um sonho se tornou realidade. Caruaru agora conta com um espaço que será ocupado pelo nosso povo, pelos nossos esportistas e estudantes. Enquanto o gestor passado pensava em vender o terreno para a iniciativa privada, nós tivemos a coragem de transformar esse espaço num imponente complexo esportivo de padrão internacional, pensando na qualidade de vida dos caruaruenses”, falou Pinheiro aos presentes numa arquibancada lotada.

O prefeito também adiantou que Caruaru vai contar com um importante evento para as pessoas com deficiência. “Após retomarmos os jogos escolares, que a gestão passada parou por dois anos, vamos criar as Olimpíadas Escolares Paralímpicas aqui do município. Isso é inclusão e cuidado com as pessoas”, finalizou.

Implantado numa área de dois hectares, que fica localizada na ETI Álvaro Lins, o Complexo incentivará a prática esportiva por parte dos estudantes da rede municipal e estadual de ensino, bem como impulsionará as realizações de competições profissionais, de âmbito até nacional, no solo caruaruense. O investimento foi de quase R$ 5 milhões, com execução em um ano e cinco meses.
