Além de projetar Petrolina no cenário internacional dos esportes, a parceria da prefeitura com o World Tour BT400 proporciona diversas ações de cunho social. Mais de mil alunos da rede municipal de ensino visitaram a arena EMS, na manhã desta quinta (18), para conhecer o campeonato, atletas e a modalidade esportiva. As turmas foram conduzidas pessoalmente pelo prefeito Simão Durando e secretária de Educação, Cultura e Esportes, Rosane da Costa.
A visita às quadras de beach tennis é apenas uma das ações sociais articuladas pela prefeitura com a organização do BT400. Após a finalização do torneio, sete quadras que foram construídas para o evento esportivo serão doadas para as Escolas Municipais e os professores serão capacitados para ensinar aos alunos o esporte que tem conquistado o país. Ainda dentro da ação, os estudantes que mais se destacarem durante as aulas de educação física nas unidades de ensino, poderão participar do projeto social da EMS Farmacêutica.
Simão Durando avalia que a parceria social da prefeitura com o torneio internacional é um dos principais legados que o evento deixará. “Hotéis lotados, centenas de pessoas visitando nossa cidade, movimentação na economia, o nome de Petrolina sendo exibido para o mundo são alguns dos ganhos que esse torneio propicia. Porém, particularmente, considero que o maior legado é ver milhares de crianças que nunca tiveram uma oportunidade de praticar esse esporte, terem contato com um torneio mundial, conhecerem ídolos e verem que o esporte pode transformar vidas. Nosso trabalho visa justamente isso, investir pesado para termos a melhor educação do estado e garantir oportunidades para o futuro de crianças. E essa ação conjunta também garante esperança num futuro melhor”, destacou o gestor petrolinense.
