Salgueiro enfrenta desafios em saneamento, gestão pública e infraestrutura

Com pouco mais de 60 mil habitantes, o município de Salgueiro, no Sertão Central de Pernambuco, enfrenta em 2025 um conjunto de problemas estruturais que impactam diretamente a qualidade de vida da população. O saneamento básico continua sendo o maior desafio: apenas 39,7% dos moradores contam com serviço de esgotamento sanitário, e grande parte do esgoto ainda é lançado sem tratamento adequado. A situação reflete na saúde pública e no meio ambiente, enquanto o abastecimento de água, embora mais abrangente, sofre com interrupções e pressão irregular em alguns bairros.

A infraestrutura urbana também carece de investimentos. Menos da metade das vias possuem pavimentação com meio-fio e apenas 7,6% da cidade dispõe de sistema de drenagem de águas pluviais, o que deixa Salgueiro vulnerável a alagamentos em períodos de chuva. Outro ponto sensível é a gestão pública: investigações da Polícia Federal apontaram possíveis irregularidades em contratos do programa de Transporte Fora do Domicílio (TFD), e o Tribunal de Contas do Estado tem emitido alertas para melhorias na administração municipal.

Além disso, o município ainda não concluiu o Plano Municipal de Saneamento Básico, exigido pelo novo Marco Legal do Saneamento, o que limita o acesso a recursos federais para obras estruturantes. Problemas com o descarte irregular de lixo e a precariedade de estradas vicinais e rodovias, como a PE-460, completam o quadro de dificuldades. Diante desse cenário, o prefeito Fabinho Lisandro tem o desafio de equilibrar as contas públicas, enfrentar o passivo financeiro herdado de gestões anteriores — estimado em mais de R$ 23 milhões — e garantir a continuidade dos serviços essenciais, além de buscar investimentos que modernizem a infraestrutura e recuperem a confiança da população.
