Caruaru é destaque estadual no combate ao trabalho infantil

Caruaru alcançou o primeiro lugar no ranking estadual de ações de enfrentamento ao trabalho infantil, segundo o Painel e Relatório Anual do Sistema de Monitoramento do Programa de Erradicação do Trabalho Infantil (SIMPETI), divulgado pelo Ministério do Desenvolvimento e Assistência Social, Família e Combate à Fome (MDS) no início deste mês. O estado registrou um total de 4.792 ações, com destaque para Caruaru, que liderou com 831 ações, tornando-se referência em estratégias de combate ao trabalho infantil.

Essa conquista é resultado do trabalho contínuo realizado pelo município por meio das Ações Estratégicas para Erradicação do Trabalho Infantil (AEPETI), que desenvolve uma série de ações permanentes de informação, mobilização, identificação, proteção, defesa e monitoramento. Esse esforço conta com a articulação da rede intersetorial do município e com a efetiva parceria da gestão estadual da Secretaria de Assistência Social, Combate à Fome e Políticas sobre Drogas (SAS).

Ao longo de 2023, a equipe AEPETI em Caruaru realizou uma gama de atividades, incluindo sensibilizações, busca ativa e abordagens em diversas feiras livres, como as do Parque 18 de Maio e dos bairros Salgado, Boa Vista I e II. As ações também se estenderam ao centro da cidade e a eventos de grande porte, como o Carnaval, São João e Caruaru Moto Fest. Outro marco significativo foi o Espaço de Proteção montado no Espaço Cultural Tancredo Neves, destinado ao acolhimento e atendimento emergencial de crianças e adolescentes em situação de risco durante as festividades do São João.

Esse reconhecimento reflete o empenho de Caruaru em erradicar o trabalho infantil e garantir os direitos das crianças e adolescentes. As ações realizadas reforçam o compromisso da cidade em proteger suas crianças e adolescentes, além de promover um ambiente seguro e saudável para o desenvolvimento infantil.

“O destaque que recebemos é fruto de um trabalho coletivo. Continuaremos trabalhando com empenho para que Caruaru siga como exemplo de uma cidade que luta pela erradicação do trabalho infantil e pelo desenvolvimento humano com dignidade e justiça social”, disse a secretária de Desenvolvimento Social e Direitos Humanos, Katiuska Lopes.
