O deputado federal Eduardo da Fonte (PP-PE) solicitou formalmente ao Ministério da Saúde a redução da idade mínima para a realização gratuita de mamografias no SUS, passando dos atuais 50 para 40 anos. O pedido foi encaminhado à ministra da Saúde, Nísia Trindade, por meio do Ofício n.º 011/2025, destacando a importância do diagnóstico precoce no combate ao câncer de mama.
De acordo com o parlamentar, a detecção antecipada da doença aumenta significativamente as chances de tratamento bem-sucedido e reduz a mortalidade. “O câncer de mama é a principal causa de morte oncológica entre as mulheres. No Brasil, 30% das pacientes diagnosticadas têm menos de 50 anos, o que reforça a necessidade de revisar as diretrizes do SUS”, pontuou Eduardo da Fonte.
Atualmente, a Lei nº 11.664/2008 e a Portaria nº 61/2015 garantem a mamografia gratuita para mulheres de 50 a 69 anos. No entanto, diversas organizações de saúde, como a Sociedade Brasileira de Mastologia, o American College of Radiology e a US Preventive Services Task Force, recomendam a realização do exame a partir dos 40 anos.
Dados do Instituto Nacional de Câncer (INCA) apontam que o câncer de mama deve representar 74 mil novos casos por ano no Brasil até 2025.
No ofício, Eduardo da Fonte também propõe que a ampliação da faixa etária para a mamografia gratuita seja acompanhada de campanhas de conscientização e investimento na infraestrutura para exames. “Nosso objetivo é garantir que mais mulheres tenham acesso ao rastreamento precoce e um tratamento eficiente, reduzindo o impacto da doença e salvando vidas”, reforçou o deputado.
